Sabalenka spoke after the tragedy: “my heart is broken”

Sabalenka’s last days were undoubtedly the most complicated of his life. The thing is, after the well-known event where her partner, Konstantin Koltsov, lost his life at the age of 42, the Belarusian decided to play the Miami Open anyway.

She will do so without making statements to the press and, in this context, she released a statement on her Instagram account:

“Konstantin’s death is an unthinkable tragedy and, although we were no longer together, my heart is broken. Please respect my privacy and that of her family during this difficult time.”

The Miami Open is a professional tennis tournament held annually in Miami, Florida, United States. It is one of the most important events on the professional tennis circuit, for both men and women, and is part of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament series for men and the Premier Mandatory tournaments for women. The tournament is played on hard courts and attracts many of the best players in the world. The Miami Open takes place at the Hard Rock Stadium complex, which is known for being the home of the Miami Dolphins American football team.

Tennis, which many also call white sport, is practiced on a rectangular court (whether made of cement, clay or grass), divided by lines and with the presence of a net in the middle. It is played with rackets and a special ball. They can be played singles or doubles. The objective is to hit the ball so that it goes over the net that divides the court in half, trying to prevent the opponent from being able to return it.
